Bullying Prevention: Stand Up on the Schoolyard
More than one out of every five students (20.8%) reported being bullied according to the National Center for Educational Statistics of 2016. These bullying encounters occur during the school day, after school and in cyberspace.
It is critical that all affected with this growing problem know the many factors that go into bullying, and have skills to address the problem in informed and effective manners. School-based bullying prevent programs have been shown to decrease bullying by up to 25% (McCallion & Feder 2013)
“Stand Up on the Schoolyard” trains participants to address and prevent bullying. The tools of improvisation, using theatre and role-plays, allow each participant to understand and gain perspective from many points of view in a bullying encounter.
It has been documented that more than half of bullying situations (57%) stop when a peer intervenes on behalf of the student being bullied. Participants gain empathy and learn and experience how to effectively bridge conflict, and promote open and tolerant dialogues. The session can be customzied to meet your staff’s specific needs and is perfect for administrators, teachers, students, parents and support staff.
STAND UP ON THE SCHOOLYARD can be presented as a Keynote or an Interactive Workshop.
